ABOUT US

Thank you for your interest in 252!

Our Christian-based homeschool co-op is called Muscatine 252, after the Bible verse Luke 2:52.

We offer all day classes {9 AM - 3PM} every other Friday during the school year. We meet at Calvary Church (we are not affiliated with Calvary Church, but are our own organization that they generously allow us to use their FLC facility).  Besides Friday Classes, our community also does:

-Fall and Spring Group Outing

-Play Production (Fall)

-Kids Entrepreneur Fair (December)

-Highschool Gala (April or May)

-Highschool Graduation Ceremony (May)

The families in our group all share a common faith as outlined in our Statement of Faith and all classes are taught with a Biblical Worldview.

We offer classes Kindergarten through 12th Grade.

Each semester offers new classes and we cover a range of topics. Some examples of past classes include: Inventions, Dissection, Ancient Civilizations, Cooking, Art, Speech, Creative Writing, Journalism, Bible, Music, Ecology, Service Projects, Literature, Sewing, Geography, Spanish, Robotics, Dance, Gym and more.

We hold a planning meeting each semester to decide on what classes we'd like to offer for the upcoming semester. At the meeting families share what classes they hope to see offered, bring suggestions for classes they are willing to teach, or classes they could arrange an outside teacher to come in to teach.

This is a parent-run group. Each family is required to fulfill at least 2 hrs of volunteer time each Friday either teaching a class, helping in a class, or monitoring lunch or clean-up. Volunteer slots will change each semester.

We ask all of our families to be ready and willing to step in and sub if someone is unable to fill their slots for the day due to illness, travel, etc.

We require an annual membership fee that varies ($25-$50) to cover the shared cost of administrative fees, insurance, etc. Some classes will have a teacher/supplies fee that will be paid directly to the teacher.

If you are interested in joining Muscatine 252 for the next semester, please review our Statement of Faith. If it aligns with your beliefs and you would like to be considered for membership, please go to Request Membership and fill out the application. (This does not obligate you to anything and no money is required at this time, it simply allows us to approve you for the group so that you can be ready for registration.)

We ask for a pastoral or small group leader reference during the application process as we desire the parents who are pouring into our children are also being poured into by a church community and are actively pursuing Christ with a body of believers.

If you have questions, please email us at [email protected].
